Terms and conditions

1. Scope and provider
These terms apply to all contracts you conclude with us through our website, in particular for online self-study courses and language lessons.
Your contractual partner is: aifl Sprachinstitut, owner Valerie Pfeifle M.A., Pfälzerstraße 8, 93128 Regenstauf, phone 09402 7999799, email office@aifl-institute.com.
A consumer is any natural person who concludes a legal transaction for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business or profession.
2. Conclusion of contract for online courses
The courses shown on our website are not a binding offer but an invitation to order. By clicking “Order and pay” you make a binding offer to buy the selected course. You can check and correct your details before sending.
You are then forwarded to the payment page of our payment provider Stripe. The contract is concluded as soon as payment has been completed successfully; we confirm this by email. The contract language is German. We store the contract text; you receive it with the order confirmation by email.
3. Prices and payment
All prices are final prices. As a small business under § 19 UStG (German VAT Act) we do not charge VAT. There are no shipping costs.
Payment is made in advance via Stripe by card or one of the other payment methods offered there. You receive the invoice by email.
4. Delivery of online courses
Online courses are digital content not supplied on a tangible medium. After payment you receive your access (for example an access code or login details) by email – depending on the course immediately or usually within two working days.
The courses are provided by a partner publisher. Its terms of use and system notes, which you receive with your access, also apply. Please check before buying that your device meets the requirements; we are happy to help with any questions.
5. Rights of use
You receive a simple, non-transferable right to use the course for personal learning. Passing on access details to third parties is not permitted.
6. Language lessons
We currently offer private lessons in German and English. You send a request with your preferred times via our website; we confirm the time and teacher and send you the payment request. Lessons are paid in advance. One lesson lasts 45 minutes.
You can cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts. If you cancel later or do not attend, the lesson counts as taken unless you were prevented for reasons beyond your control. If a lesson does not take place for reasons we are responsible for, we will make it up or refund it.
7. Right of withdrawal
Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal. Details are set out in our cancellation policy. For online courses the right of withdrawal expires early under the conditions stated there. 8. Warranty
The statutory warranty rights apply, for digital content in particular §§ 327 et seq. of the German Civil Code. If an access does not work, please contact us – we will deal with it straight away.
9. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. In the case of slight negligence we are only liable for breach of an essential contractual obligation, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. Liability under the Product Liability Act remains unaffected.
10. Dispute resolution
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
11. Final provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive them of the protection of mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which they have their habitual residence.
